Dutch insurance company "Centraal Beheer Achmea", is well known for its commercials and the use of interactive media to promote their brand. Sticky Studios developed the viral game "Skydiver" which is the interactive counterpart of their latest TV commercial.
The game was released on Hyves, the largest and most successful social networking site in the Netherlands. Every member of Hyves can place the game on their personal profile page, in the form of a gadget. A personal highscore list is automatically added. Every user who visits the profile of the member, is challenged to improve the highscore of the profile owner.
In just 4 weeks, over a million people landed their parachute in the game, which exceeded the original target by almost factor 20. By focussing on gameplay and designing an "easy to learn and hard to master" game, the avarage amount of landings per user was 6,1.
